Final Event Project 2018-2022 Department of Excellence DICAM, Mechanics of Solids and Structures

On the sidelines of the closure of the 2018-2022 Department of Excellence project, DICAM organised a final event featuring leading professors in the field of mechanics of solids and structures and young researchers, post-docs, and Ph.D. students who participated in the project. The event is organised as a symposium and includes two keynotes: one held by Prof. Massimiliano Fraldi of the University of Naples Federico II and one by Prof. Carlo Pellegrino of the University of Padua. 
In particular, Professor Fraldi will illustrate the future challenges of cell mechanics and biological systems; while Professor Pellegrino will discuss recent developments in risk assessment and management associated with existing bridges.
In addition to the keynotes, the symposium will feature presentations on topics relating to the mechanics of metamaterials, microstructured materials, and origami structures, as well as passive vibration reduction systems, structural optimisation for seismic shielding, and computational methods for quantifying uncertainty in engineering systems.
