Metrological validation of non-destructive investigations on the C3sx span
This first phase of phase 2 involves a preliminary study of the site, necessary for the organization of the entire second survey campaign, and then the activities related to the first set of tests, the one concerning the C3sx span.
Activities
- Preliminary operations
- Verification tests for the characterization of the materials of the C3sx span:
- digital radiographs
- reflectometer measurements
- tomographic measurements for transparency
- potential mapping
- tomographic measurements by reflection
- steel side stress release tests
- cls side stress release tests
- ultrasound tests
- sampling
- pull-out tests
- Weighing of the C3sx scaffold and subsequent dismantling and handling of the beams of the C3sx span in the area equipped for the subsequent scarifying activity
- Characterization and scarification tests for the definition of the real state of decay of the beams of the C3sx span
Targets
- Completion of the collection of information necessary for the interpretation of the collapse load test performed in Phase 1 on the C3sx span; in particular: complete the material characterization, check the structural own weight, check the actual health status of the post voltage cables
- Validation of stress release tests on the steel and cls side by comparison with the collapse load test evidence
- Validation of ultrasonic tests on the cls of the 4 beams and the slab through comparison with compression tests and pull-out tests
- Metrological evaluation of the effectiveness of the georadar surveys carried out in Phase 1 on the 4 beams through controlled demolition
- Metrological evaluation of the effectiveness of digital radiographs through the execution of investigations on the 4 beams and through the subsequent controlled demolition
- Metrological evaluation of the effectiveness of reflectometer tests through the execution of investigations on 2 of the 4 beams and through the subsequent controlled demolition
